Strawberry (IBL)

The variety Erdbeer (IBL) is a Swiss classic that was cultivated by my friend Knospe and preserved in seed form. About two thirds of the plants represent the original clone very well. This variety combines two characteristics that rarely come together: exceptional hardiness and the ability to form compact, rock-hard buds. As soon as the buds start to form, you can tell that it is different from other varieties. The plants produce firm, dense buds that look like small rocks. Harvest time is in the first week of October at 52 degrees latitude (@52N), making it ideal for outdoor cultivation in temperate climates. Despite the name Strawberry, this variety does not smell like strawberries. The name refers more to the shape of the buds. Its smell is rather subtle and earthy, with slightly hashy notes, which is not its strongest point. The high is also less impressive, affecting the body more than the mind, and is not one of the strains that is preferred for consumption. Strawberry’s real strength lies in its breeding characteristics. It passes on its robustness and ability to form extremely compact buds very reliably. If you want to breed with this strain, you can choose a robust mother plant that lives up to the old stories about this strain. The Helvetic Seeds version has not quite lived up to the original reputation of the strain, so it is recommended to select your own breeding mother. The pictures show a plant during seed development
